Dusks Dining Chairs: Will They Fit Your Table and Your Room?
By Dining1005 min read

The Dusks is an upholstered dining chair covered in water-repellent faux leather with a check-pattern quilt across the seat and back. The back curves round and the seat sides lift up slightly, so it holds you more like a small tub chair than a flat side chair. It sits on crossed metal legs in a black powder-coated finish, and we sell it in brown and black, each as a set of 2.
If you are trying to work out whether it suits your table and your household, here is what matters.

Seat height against our tables
Every one of our dining tables is 75cm tall. With a 47cm seat, the Dusks sits within the 25cm to 30cm seat-to-tabletop gap we generally recommend, which is enough space for your knees without the table feeling high. Our seat height guide explains how to check this for any chair and table.
There are no arms to worry about, so the chair will push in as far as the seat and legs allow. On the Pimlico, which lists 72cm of clearance under the frame, that leaves room above the seat.
How many fit around which table
At 52cm wide, the Dusks is a mid-sized chair. It is roomier than a slim side chair, so it is worth planning the numbers. As a rule of thumb, allow roughly 60cm of table edge per diner.
- Aaronsburg 120cm round: seats 4, and four Dusks chairs fit round it comfortably. The pedestal base leaves the edge clear all the way round. Our Aaronsburg guide has more on round-table layouts.
- Dakota 140cm: two chairs down each long side works well day to day. The Dakota is 77cm deep, so a chair at each end is possible for a dinner, though it will be a closer fit with a chair this wide. Read the Dakota room planning guide before you commit to extra places.
- Pimlico 80cm square: one chair on each side. An 80cm side takes a 52cm chair with space either side, and the Pimlico's inset base keeps the legs out of the way.
Because the seat depth is 51cm, the Dusks takes up a little more floor when pulled out. Leave about 90cm behind the chairs if people will walk behind diners. For the full picture on walkways, see what size dining table for your room.
Which of our tables it pairs with
The black crossed legs are the link to look for. The Dakota has a black X-shaped iron base under a warm wood-effect top, and the brown Dusks picks up both the black metal and the warm wood, which makes the pair look deliberate rather than matched by accident.
The black Pimlico with black Dusks chairs gives a dark, industrial kitchen set. If that feels heavy, the oak-effect Pimlico lightens the top while keeping the black frame.
For a round table, the rustic brown Aaronsburg suits brown Dusks, while the black marble-effect Aaronsburg is a strong match for the black. If you want to combine the Dusks with a second style at a longer table, our guide to mixing dining chairs covers how to make two designs work together.
Choosing between brown and black
The two colours share the same shape, frame and measurements.
- Brown is the warmer of the two. Against black legs it has a vintage, industrial look and sits comfortably with wood-effect tables and wooden floors.
- Black is more graphic. It works in modern kitchens, with dark or marble-effect tables, and in rooms that already have a lot of colour elsewhere.
Both are faux leather, not real leather. That is a practical advantage in a busy home, because the surface is water-repellent and wipes down. Our guide to dining chair fabrics for family homes compares faux leather with fabric options if you are undecided.
Living with it
Care is simple:
- wipe the surface with a soft, damp cloth
- do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents or harsh chemicals
- check and tighten the fixings from time to time
- adjust the two adjustable feet if the chair rocks on an uneven floor
Assembly is light. You attach the leg elements to the seat with the screws provided, and the parts are labelled with instructions included. All legs have floor protectors, which helps on wooden and tiled floors.
The metal and wood internal frame and the 120kg weight capacity make the Dusks a sensible choice for a chair that gets used every day, and our notes also suggest it for home offices or as accent seating.

Frequently asked questions
What is the seat height of the Dusks dining chair?
The Dusks has a seat height of 47cm and stands 81.5cm tall overall. That suits a standard dining table, and all of our tables are 75cm tall.
What are Dusks chairs covered in?
They are upholstered in water-repellent faux leather with a check pattern, over a metal and wood internal frame.
How much weight does a Dusks chair hold?
Each Dusks chair has a maximum weight capacity of 120kg.
Are the Dusks chairs sold as a pair?
Yes. Both colours are sold as a set of 2 dining chairs.
Will Dusks chairs wobble on an uneven floor?
Every leg has a floor protector, and two of them are adjustable, so you can level the chair on a floor that is not quite flat.
Do Dusks chairs have arms?
No. They are armless, but the seat sides are raised and the back curves round, so they feel more enclosed than a flat side chair.
