Beaumont 2-Drawer Console Table: Dining Room Size and Fit Guide
By Dining1004 min read

The Beaumont is a compact console with two drawers, a full-width lower shelf and turned legs. The drawers have antique-brass-effect ring handles, and the finish has a subtle wood-grain texture. It comes in blue, black and green.
It is the shortest console we sell, which makes it the natural choice for a smaller dining room or a kitchen diner where a long console would crowd the wall. Here is how it sizes up.
Size at a glance
| Measurement | Beaumont |
|---|---|
| Width | 101.6 cm |
| Depth | 29 cm |
| Height | 78 cm |
| Drawers | 2 |
| Lower shelf | Full width |

The dimensions are the same for all three colours.
Size and fit in a dining room
Wall length
At 101.6cm wide, the Beaumont fits walls that longer consoles cannot. It works on the short stretch between a door and a corner, beside a chimney breast, or under a window in a kitchen diner. Leave a little wall showing at each end so it does not look wedged in. On a very long wall it can look small on its own, so there it is better centred under a mirror or a piece of art that widens the group.
Depth against a walkway
The Beaumont is 29cm deep, the slimmest console in our range. That is useful in a dining room, because anything on the wall behind the chairs eats into the walkway. As a general guide, leave about 90cm behind a pulled-out chair for someone to pass, measured from the front of the console, not the wall. Our guide to what size dining table suits your room shows how to work that out for your space.
The drawers do pull forward into the room when open. That is fine for fetching napkins before a meal, but it is worth placing the Beaumont where an open drawer will not meet the back of a chair. The end wall of a table, or a wall beside it, is usually better than directly behind a seat.
Height against our tables
All three of our dining tables are 75cm tall. The Beaumont stands at 78cm, so it is the closest in height to the table of any console we sell. Its top sits just above the table line, which makes it read as its own piece while keeping the room calm and level. It is a good height for a small serving station: a water jug, a bread board, a bowl of fruit.
Which of our tables it sits behind well
The best match is the Pimlico, our 80cm square table. Both are compact, and in a small room the Beaumont gives the storage a little table cannot. The drawers take the placemats and cutlery, and the shelf takes the things you would otherwise leave on the table between meals. Our Pimlico guide and small dining room ideas both cover layouts like this.
With the 120cm round Aaronsburg, the Beaumont works on a side wall, where it looks neat alongside a round table without competing with it. Behind the 140cm Dakota, it is on the short side for the long wall, and the Brunel is the better fit there.
Choosing between blue, black and green
Blue. A blue finish with wood-grain texture. It works as an accent colour in a room with pale walls and wood-effect tables, and sits well next to an oak-effect or walnut-effect Pimlico. Brass handles against blue give a slightly traditional feel.
Black. A black finish with wood-grain texture. The easiest to place, since it picks up black table frames. Our Pimlico, Dakota and Aaronsburg all have black in their bases or tops, so a black Beaumont ties into any of them.
Green. A green finish with wood-grain texture. Like the blue, it is a colour choice rather than a neutral. Green looks good with warm wood tones and with tan or brown chairs.
You do not need to match the table. A coloured console against a wood-effect table often looks more deliberate than a near match. Our guide to mixing dining chairs uses the same idea for seating.
Living with it
All three versions wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth, and the care notes say to avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners. Beyond that, each listing adds a little:
- Blue: protect it from direct sunlight and excessive moisture.
- Black: keep it away from direct heat and prolonged sunlight, and use coasters and mats.
- Green: protect it from direct sunlight to prevent fading, and use coasters and mats.
In a dining room, that means a mat under hot dishes, a coaster under drinks, and a tray under a vase of flowers. If the console sits in front of a sunny window, it is worth thinking about a blind at the brightest time of day for the coloured finishes.

Frequently asked questions
How big is the Beaumont console table?
The Beaumont is 101.6cm wide, 29cm deep and 78cm high. The size is the same in blue, black and green.
Does the Beaumont have storage?
Yes. It has two drawers with antique-brass-effect ring handles and a full-width open shelf below.
What colours does the Beaumont come in?
Blue, black and green. Each has a subtle wood-grain texture to the finish.
Is the Beaumont too tall to sit beside a dining table?
No. It stands at 78cm, just above our 75cm dining tables, so it reads as a separate serving surface without towering over the table.
Which dining table suits the Beaumont?
It suits our 80cm square Pimlico best, as both are compact and the pair work well in a smaller dining room or kitchen diner.
